Due to the disturbance in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a low pressure area and now located to the northeast of Sri Lanka showery weather and cloudy skies over the country is expected to continue today, the Dept.says.

Showers or thundershowers will be experienced over most part of the island, particularly in the northern half of the island. Very heavy falls (about 150 mm) are also likely at some places, it forecasts.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers and the general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
