    Police Cybercrime First Responders swings into action

    The initial Training of Traineers program on Cybercrime First Responder for Law Enforcement which was conducted for five days at Sri Lanka Police College concluded successfully, recently, where a number of fifteen Police officers including two Senior Gazetted Officers received their certificates at the conclusion ceremony.

    This program is a special training module included in the Global Action on Cybercrime (GLACY) project of Council of Europe, with the preliminary objective of enhancing the capacity of law enforcement officers to combat against cybercrime.

     

    The course was conducted by representatives of the Council of Europe Mr.Mick Jamaison & Mrs.Andrea Bradley and observed by Sri Lanka CERT representatives with the assistance of IT Division, Police Headquarters.

     

    The course panel comprised of Mr. Gamini Nawaratne /SDIG Administration & Elections, Mr. M.R. Latiff / DIG Training and Mr. H.A. Damayantha ASP/IT Division. Mr. Jayantha Fernando/Director Legal ICTA, Mr. Lal Dias/CEO Sri Lanka CERT,

     

    This was a momentous milestone in the history of the Police Department where trained officers were assigned with the task of training Police officers on how to secure, search, & seize goods, in a crime scene in order to collect and preserve electronic evidence to be admissible in court.
