Accordingly it is expected to implement a number of projects related to curative services, hospital aids, specialist services, human resource development and improve infrastructure within the 2016/2018 midterm budgetary framework.
Almost 100% of preventive services, 90-95% of in-patient services and about 50% of out-patient services are being provided by health care institutions maintained through public funds.
The new government has taken a policy decision to give priority to improve the health sector by allocating 3% from the GDP in 2016 where the allocation in 2015 was 1.8%.
The proposal made by Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senaratne in this regard was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
