This shows an increase of 0.7 index point and also a percentage of 0.38 compared to the last month's index point of l8l.4. This change has occurred due to the price increases of food items by 0.39 percent.
Dr. Amara Satharasinghe Director General of Census and Statistics said that year on year inflation of 1.7% was reported for the rnonth of October 2015, after consecutive three months (July-September) of deflation. This was mainly due to elimination of effect of reduced electricity bills and recent price increase of ceftain food iterns.
The moving average inflation rate for the month of October 2015 is 0.7%. The corresponding rate for the month of September 20 I 5 was also 0.7o%.
