    Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka, Senior Adviser to the President on National Security and Chief of the Presidential Staff stated that, irrespective of the opposition’s criticism, the people will witness the outcomes of the government’s new economic reforms. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the country’s law and order during its development.

    The Sri Lanka Navy today (20th January 2024) seized a local multi-day fishing trawler carrying over 65kg of heroin, and another multi-day fishing trawler suspected of assisting it, during a special operation carried out about 100 nautical miles (about 185km) off the Dondra Head, in southern waters. The operation also led to the apprehension of 11 suspects in connection to the smuggling racket.

    A review meeting was conducted yesterday (19) at the President’s Office, chaired by Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka, Senior Advisor to the President on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff, to discuss the progress of the “Pekoe trail” project aimed at boosting Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.

    President Ranil Wickremesinghe participated in bilateral discussions with various leaders and representatives from Global South countries in the African region yesterday (19), coinciding with the Non-Aligned Nations Conference held in Kampala, Uganda.
