    The United States Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma, who called on President Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed appreciation for the efforts taken by the Sri Lankan Government to turn the economy around.

    Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America Richard Verma undertook a visit to Sri Lanka from 22 - 23 February 2024.  The visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State and delegation had extensive discussions with Foreign Minister Ali Sabry at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on further strengthening bilateral cooperation. 

    President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the restructuring of vocational education to align with the demands of the modern world, ensuring that the youth of the country are equipped to excel in the competitive global job market.

    Mrs. Diana Gamage, the Minister of State for Tourism emphasized the critical role of nightlife in driving economic growth, citing it as a cornerstone of the night economy. She underscored that the night economy accounts for a substantial 70% of a country’s revenue, illustrating its significant contribution to national finances.
