Sri Lanka Navy facilitates successful annual feast at St. Anthony's Church in Kachchativu
February 25, 2024The annual feast of St. Anthony's Church in Kachchativu was held on a successful note on 23rd and 24th February 2024. Kachchativu is an islet belonging to Sri Lanka, located close to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) of Sri Lanka and India. The main mass of the church festival was conducted by the Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese Rev. Fr. Josephdas Jebaratnam. The proceedings of the event had been organised under the guidance of the District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr. A Sivabalasundaram. The main mass was attended bythe Secretary to the President, Mr Saman Ekanayake, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, distinguished invitees, a large number of devotees and a representative from the Indian government.
“Presidential Scholarships” for 100,000 School Students on the Advice of the President
February 25, 2024In an effort to support the education of Sri Lankan children, President Ranil Wickremesinghe introduced the “Presidential Academic Scholarship Program 2024/2025.” This special scholarship initiative, launched through the President’s Fund, aims to provide financial assistance to 100,000 students from Grade 01 to Grade 11 across all 10,126 schools in the country.
In a recent discussion convened at the Presidential Secretariat, President Ranil Wickremesinghe articulated his vision for economic development and infrastructure investment, particularly focusing on the master plans for strategic tourism zones in the Eastern Province, the Colombo City & the Western Region and Greater Hambantota.
