    Katina Pooja Ceremony held in Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya, Lumbini

    Annual Katina pooja ceremony of Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya in Lumbini, Nepal which was held on 29th - 30th October was organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka, Kathmandu, Nepal.

    The Pirith chanting ceremony was held on 29th October evening in Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya with the participation of Embassy staff and Sri Lankan expatriations in Nepal, prior to Katina pooja.

     

    The Katina Robe was carried from the Maya Devi Temple in Lumbini in a procession to the Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya on 30th November early in the morning.

     

    It was a memorable day for the devotees as 58 Buddhist monks participated at the alms giving. The most Ven Kolambagama Premarathana Thero, Chief incumbent of the Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya, and two other Theros from Sri Lanka, The Most Ven. Saddhathissa Thero, Chief incumbent of Maha Bodhi Maha Vihar, Lumbini, The most Ven Sagaradhamma Thero, Royal Temple, Lumbini and Nuns were among Maha Sanga.

     

    Most Ven Kolambagama Premarathana Thero, briefly explained the importance of Katina Pooja to the devotees after Katina Robe was offered to the Maha Sanga.
