    Govt. committed to build a better country for future generations – President

    It is the highest responsibility of the government to safeguard the future of the nation and to make the future generation strong, said President Maithripala Sirisena and added that the current government is committed to act on this regard.

    The President was speaking at the Literary and Cultural festival of Samurdhi ‘Kekulu’ Children’s Societies, held yesterday (Dec. 21) at the BMICH.

     

    The President pointed out that everybody has the responsibility to build the children as those who closely associate with the culture and the literature of the country. “The culture and the literature are important facts to make the reconciliation program successful, by spreading peace and brotherhood among the communities,” he said.


    President Sirisena presented awards to the children who showed excellence. He also presented awards to the District Secretaries and the ‘Divi Neguma’ Officials who officiate with these children societies.


    Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare S. B. Dissanayake, Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, Secretary to the Ministry Mahinda Senevirathne and the Director General of the Divi Neguma Development Department Neil Bandara also participated.
