Conservation of the traditions and customs, which include poems, folk dances, folk stories, customs, and the food items is a national responsibility, emphasized Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Friday (18th March) addressing the monthly meeting with District Secretaries at the Temple Trees.
According to PM Wickremesinghe, considerable efforts should be put in by Department of Culture affairs drafting proper plans, which will be implemented island wide through all the District Secretaries and the District Cultural Affairs officers to conserve traditions and customs.
The last research on those poems and folk stories has been carried out in 1940 by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.
