    Sri Lankan delegation left for 134th IPU assembly in Zambia

    A delegation headed by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya left for Zambia on Wednesday (16th March) to take part in the 134th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

     

    State Minister Wasantha Senanayake MP, Deputy Minister Sudarshanee  Pranandupulle MP, Kader Masthan MP, K.Kodeeswaran MP, and the Secretary General of the Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake are the members of the delegation.

     

    Around 2,000 parliamentarians representing 167 states are expected to be participated in this year assembly. This year IPU’s  attention will be on promotion of Human Rights, Inter-Parliamentary co-operation, the women’s contribution for the Constitutional process, and the youth contribution.

     

    As well the progress of the actions and the investigations on the assassinated MPs of many countries will also be taken up at the forum.  Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, Joseph Pararajasingham MP, Nadaraja Ravi Raj MP, T. Maheshwaran MP, and Minister D.M.Dasanayake are among the assassinated law makers in limelight.
