The government has designated June 23 as National Housing Day from this year. Accordingly, it will be held under the theme "Sahabagithwa Niwasa Sanwardanaya" this year.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will participate in the event as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Minister Sajith Premadasa.

At last week's Cabinet meeting, it was unanimously decided to declare June 23 as the National Housing Day. A National Housing Week has also been declared in parallel to the National Housing Day.

The first commemorative flag to mark National Housing Day will be pinned on President Maithripala Sirisena this morning in Colombo.
