    Sri Pada Season draws to an end

    The Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) pilgrimage season which continued for six months draws to an end. The Special Perahera carrying the sacred relics and objects is scheduled to reach the Nallatanniya Buddhist Centre today (06). With the end of the pilgrimage season that commenced on Unduwap Full Moon Poya Day, the off season will begin.

    The Special Perahera carrying Relics casket and the statue of God Saman as well as the sacred objects began today, after an All Night Pirith chanting that was held last night.

     

    Arrangements have been made to hold the special customary proceedings after the arrival of the Perahera at the Sri Pada Raja Maha Vihara at Galpottawala in Pelmadulla.

     

    Chief Incumbent of the Sri Pada Vihara the Ven. Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thera said that they have made arrangements to unveil the new Buddha Statue of the Vihara after the showering of blessings with the participation of 500 Buddhist monks.
