A new Tourism Information Centre has been established focusing on the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa Tourism Zones to cater to the needs of tourists arriving in these areas. Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are main centres in the island which are considered as tourist attractions .
This Information Centre was opened under the patronage of North Central Governor P.B. Dissanayake and Chief Minister Peshala Jayaratne.
The Centre is equipped with all modern facilities and has been established at a cost of 30 million rupees. Sufficient space has been allocated for the provision of internet and restaurant facilities required by local as well as foreign tourists.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
News.lk publishes in three languages – Sinhala, Tamil and English.
