Govt. to seek AG's Advice on SriLankan Airline report

    April 13, 2015

The government will seek advice from the Attorney General on how to proceed with the probe on SriLankan Airlines. The probe is to be launched following the report submitted by a committee headed by senior attorney J.C. Weliamuna on the malpractices in the airline.

Deputy Aviation Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena has told the Business Times that the report would be referred to the Attorney General (AG) for his opinion on the matter following which necessary action would be taken.

The SriLankan Airlines report has made a number of recommendations to file criminal cases against officials like the former Chairman Nishantha Wickremesinghe and CEO Kapila Chandrasena. It has also criticized the actions of several other officials and recommended action against them.
