He made these observations yesterday (21) while participating at the weekly Cabinet briefing held at the Department of Government Information.

He stated that the Minister of Buddha Sasana Wijayadasa Rajapakshe presented this draft bill to the Parliament on the advice and guidance of Maha Sanaga.

He said that President Maithreepala Sirisena and the Cabinet of the Ministers taking into consideration serious criticisms leveled with regard to the bill have decided to go ahead with the process and any amendments, acceptance or rejection to it will be prepared with the consent of the Nayaka Theras of the Tri Nikayas..
