Upon arrival at the school the State Minister was accorded a grand welcome by the children, Principal and staff of the school.
During the occasion the State Minister presented medals to students who had excelled at the grade five scholarship exams this year. The newly renovated administrative office of the school was also declared open the chief guest.
Speaking at the occasion State Minister Wijewardene stated that the government has placed greater importance in the development of the education sector and that more than five percent of the budgetary allocation has been set aside for this purpose. He further stressed upon the necessity of creating a conducive environment for children for learning. He also said that that he will strive for the development of not only the schools but also the whole region.
Members of the School Development Society and a large number of parents and well-wishers were present at the occasion.
