The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Yi Xianliang donated 2 million Rupees to Sri Lanka National Library for digitization of its Information Communication Technology training program when Ambassador Yi met with Dr.W.A.Abeysinghe, Chairman of Sri Lanka National Library Board recently.
Ambassador Yi said, China stands ready to further strengthen exchange and cooperation with Sri Lanka in the fields of culture and education including library capacity building. China will support the development of Sri Lanka National Library with its capacity.
Dr. Abeysinghe appreciated the long-time support from China to Sri Lanka national Library and other cultural institutions.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
