Western , Sabaragamuwa , Central and Southern provinces will experience rain or thunder from time to time . Several rainy seasons may occur in the North-West Province.

resident Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the imperative of promoting modern technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to attain future social and economic objectives within the country. He announced the commencement of this program slated to initiate next year, aiming to proliferate AI across all sectors within a span of five years. The President underscored the pivotal role assigned to the university system in this initiative.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (31^st May 2024) rendered assistance to rescue 06 fishermen from a distressed local multi-day fishing trawler which was about 480 nautical miles (889km) off Dondra, south of Sri Lanka. The fishermen were retrieved by a tanker in the sea area, on being coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Moosa Zameer will be undertaking an official visit to Sri Lanka from 03 – 06 June 2024.
