The Neville Fernando Hospital in Malabe has not been fully acquired by the then government, Information, Mass Media and Higher Education Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said.“Therefore the agreement signed during the previous government regarding the acquisition of the Neville Fernando Hospital should be studied properly,” he said. The Minister said so after visiting the SAITM University’s medical faculty closed for about two years now, on Saturday.The Minister said there was an agreement to acquire the Neville Fernando Hospital to the government but it has not been fully acquired yet.He said he will make the President and the Cabinet aware regarding the present situation of the hospital and look into ways to utilise it productively.“With the vision of the President to provide higher education opportunities to every student who passed Advanced Levels, attention has been drawn on the places where more students can be facilitated for higher education,”he said.
