The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters on the night of 22nd January 2024. The operation resulted in the seizure of 02 Indian trawlers and apprehension of 06 Indian nationals poaching in Sri Lankan waters north of the Delft Island, Jaffna.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed the Sri Lanka Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) to facilitate the return of the rewards package from Mobitel to government employees and pensioners, along with implementing additional concessions.
