A newly constructed Side Slipway of the Sri Lanka Navy was ceremonially opened by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera at SLNS Dakshina in Galle recently. Sri Lanka Navy Ship Ranavijaya was shifted onto the new side-slip as a symbolic gesture during the opening ceremony.

Diploma and degree courses on hotel management and tourist economy are being introduced to Sri Lanka's state universities.  Seven such courses have   already been commenced.  Such courses are being conducted at the Colombo University, Rajarata University  and the Sabaragamuwa university.
