“Even though the country has to face different kind of economic challenges due to the global economic crisis, the Government has given priority to the welfare of the underprivileged people”, said President Maithripala Sirisena.
President of Seychelles, Danny Faure praised President Maithripala Sirisena’s campaign against illegal drugs and said his country would extend fullest cooperation to Sri Lanka’s endeavor to stop drugs and narcotics smuggling. He said this when he called on President Sirisena at the President’s Official Residence yesterday (February 27).
“After being elected, the current government has taken several steps to provide welfare facilities and grant benefits to the war heroes throughout the last two years. With that the government will not be complacent and will continue to take every possible action for their welfare in the future too”, said President Maithripala Sirisena.
Time has come to restudy and rethink the characteristics of patriotic politicians like Sri Nissanka, in a country where today’s politicians misuse the state properties and resources, and only think of their comfort zone and running behind money, said President Maithripala Sirisena.
President Maithripala Sirisena visited the Colombo National Hospital yesterday (26th Feb.) to inquire into the wellbeing of Professor Carlo Fonseka, who was admitted to the Hospital due to a sudden illness.
