    The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) publishing the final report on Sri Lanka’s November 2019 presidential election said the biased election coverage by private and state media tainted the otherwise well managed election process by the Election Commission.Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to Sri Lanka, Ms. Marisa Matias yesterday (24 January) presented the EU EOM’s final report and recommendations.

     

    Mainly fair weather will prevail over most parts the island, however there is a slight possibility for showers at a few places in Sabaragamuwa province and in Galle and Matara districts in the evening.Wind speed can be increased up to 40 kmph at times in northwestern province and in Hambantota district.Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the morning.

     

    General (Reitred) Nanda Mallawaarachchi Major has been appointed as the Director General of the government’s Multipurpose Development Task Force, says the President’s Media Division (PMD). This appointment comes weeks after the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to establish a Multipurpose Development Task Force as a Government Department enabling to provide 100,000 employment opportunities for qualified low income youth.

     

    Talks are underway to introduce an Information Technology Engineering degree centred on Mahindodaya laboratories in schools countrywide by the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL), Information and Communication Technology, Higher Education, Technology and Innovations Minister Bandula Gunawardane said.
