    Strong winds up to 40-45 kmph can be expected over the island, particularly in Northern, North central, North-western and Southern provinces and in Trincomalee district, the Met. Department said.Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Western and North-western provinces, it said. Fairly heavy rainfall about 75 mm can be expected at some places in the Galle, Matara, Rathnapura and Kalutara districts.     The sea areas extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle.
    PLEASE BE AWARE
    There is a possibility that near shore sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar toPottuvil via Colombo and Galle, may experience surges due to the effect of swell waves,having 2.5-3.5 m height (This is not for land area) from 02nd to 04th May 2019.Above mentioned sea areas can be rough at times.Navel and fishing communities and those who are living in coastal areas are also requested to be vigilant in this regards.

    The Department of Examinations has called for applications for the Ordinary Level Examination 2019. The deadline for submitting the applications has been set for May 24th.Applications for school candidates have already been sent out to the principals of each school and head monks of Pirivena institutes.
