Several web sites that came under a cyber attack earlier today have been restored, the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) said. SLCERT said eleven websites with .lk or .com domains including the website of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Sri Lanka and had been subjected to a Cyber attack.
Nearly 10 websites containing the domain names .com and .lk have come under a cyber attack, the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) said. The Embassy of Kuwait in Sri Lanka has also fallen victim to this cyber attacks, according to the SLCERT. Cyber Security Engineer of SLCERT Ravindu Meegasmulla added that measures have been taken to curtail the situation. Preliminary investigations have uncovered that the databases of the websites in question have been subject to changes owing to the attack, Mr Meegasmulla further commented.
State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene said some through media and social media are attempting to slander him by giving a twisted interpretation on the presence of a heavy security arrangement during his recent visit to conflict-hit Minuwangoda area to examine the security situation.
