    The Health Ministry announced the names of the members for the committee that was created to probe the allegations against Dr Siyabdeen Mohamed Safi. The committee members are: Consultant Dr Anil Samaranayake, Administrative Services Officer L. A. Basnayake, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist (rtd) Dr Lakshman Senanayake, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr U. D. P. Rathnasiri, Consultant in Community Medicine Dr Sanjeewa Godakandage and investigating officer S. I. Gunawardena.

    A Committee of Six Experts has been appointed to conduct a comprehensive investigation on the controversy relating to the doctor of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital who was taken into custody recently, Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said. The said doctor was arrested over several allegations including earnings of large wealth by suspicious means and over 10 complaints for carrying out illegal sterilization procedures.

    Police will firmly enforce the traffic lane law after a two-week grace period given to motorists, said the Police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera. “The grace period starts today. Heavy vehicle drivers including buses are urged to make the best use of the grace period to get use to traffic lanes”, he said.
