The Chairman of the Presidential Commission on Missing Persons retired Judge Maxwell Paranagama said that a majority of complaints on disappearance of persons in the East have been received against the LTTE. Most of the complainants had said that their relatives disappeared while they were visiting Kalmunai or Kattankudy on business matters.Not a single complaint has been lodged against the Security Forces.
Three Russian naval ships of the Pacific Fleet arrived at the Port of Colombo on Friday (06) under the Command of Rear Admiral Vladmir A. Dmitriev and ships’ Commanding Officers for replenishment and crews’ relaxation. The ships are “Marshal Shaposhnikov”, “Irkut” and “Alatau”. They were welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on their arrival.

The circular relating to the admission of grade one students for government schools have been release.. The specimen application form was published in all newspapers yesterday. The relevant applications should be forwarded to the principals of schools before the 4th of next month. Applications could be made to more than one school. In this connection those who are applying for admission to national schools could apply to a minimum of another 3 schools and a maximum of 6 schools. In such instances the priority school should be indicated in application form.
