Sri Lanka's main political parties and affiliated trade unions will hold rallies today to mark the 125th International Workers’ Day (May Day). A majority of political parties will hold their rallies in Colombo.
National event to be held on 19th May at Kotte War Memorial
“The month between 02nd May and 02nd June 2014 has been declared as the National War Hero Commemoration month and a series of events have been scheduled to be held to coincide with the War Hero Commemoration” said Mrs. Padma Weththewa, Chairperson of the Ranaviru Sewa Authority.
A delegation from the Sri Lanka Youth Council visited Geneva, Switzerland from 24-27 April 2014 as a part of a promotional campaign titled “Round the World in 40 Days” of the World Conference on Youth (WCY 2014) which is scheduled to be held from 6th – 10th May 2014 at the BMICH in Colombo. The Passing out Parade of 839 Police Officers, who received training at Sri Lanka Police College, was held recetly at Aluwihare Grounds at Sri Lanka Police College under the leadership of Secretary to the Ministry of Law & Order, Major General (Rtd.) Nanda Mallawarachchi.
