The Met Dept.said except for isolated showers/thundershowers in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo mainly fair weather can be expected over the other sea areas around the island.
The Ministry of Education informed that first round of work is being carried out at present for the admission of students to Grade I in 2015. The acceptance of applications was closed on the 4th of this month. Interviews will be held next month.
Met Dept.issuing its weather forecast for the next 36 hours, at 16.00 hrs. on Sunday (20) warns that strong winds at times (up to 70-80kmph) can be expected over the central hills and fairly strong winds at times are also likely elsewhere over the country.

The Met Department says that showers or thundershowers are likely to occur at few places in the Eastern and Uva provinces during the afternoon or evening. Few showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai will be rough at times as winds can strengthen up to 60kmph at times. Other sea areas around the island may be fairly rough at times said the Met Dept.
