A discussion was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena to review the progress of the project of the Polonnaruwa Museum and Information Centre being constructed at New Town, Polonnaruwa at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (14th Aug.).
President Maithripala Sirisena says the solution to all the economic, social and ethnic issues of the country lies in ensuring that everybody has the right to live in society without any division or mistrust.
President Maithripala Sirisena said that though the political culture of this country which consisted of fraud, theft and corruption cannot be changed at once, the current government is bearing the difficult task to create a group of patriotic and honest politicians.
The government is planning to give tablet computers to over 500,000 Advanced level students after a pilot project, said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. He believes that by 2030- 2035 children will start to use these computers for educational purposes.
The representatives of the Colombo International Tea Convention 2017 and the tea planters joined with President Maithripala Sirisena at a tea party held at the President’s House in Colombo, on 9th August.
The presentation of title deeds of the lands to the farming community in Walawa zone and Mahaweli ‘’H’’ zone under the National Program to offer 100,000 title deeds to Mahaweli settlers will be held on 11th and 12th August under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
