The Farmers’ Conference “Haritha Udana” organized by the Hadabima Authority of Sri Lanka was held at the In-service Training Institute, Gannoruwa under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday (13).
The term of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC), appointed to recommend and report on political and constitutional measures to address the country’s national problem, was extended for another six months today.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa welcomed the President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon. The Mauritanian President is in Sri Lanka enroute to Australia to attend the G-20 Summit.
Minister Susil Premajayantha revealed that the President will launch a Policy Manifesto on behalf of the future Presidential election. He mentioned that a new manifesto was being planned to be launched, as a slew of pledges enunciated in the Mahinda Chinthana and the Mahinda Chinthana Future Vision have been honored.
The government's aim is to strengthen the economy and steer the country towards prosperity and as such no local or foreign forces will be allowed to destabilise the economy, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Leader of the House Irrigation and Water Management Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said in Parliament today that Supreme Court had unanimously decided that President Mahinda Rajapaksa could seek another term.
