President attends Sri Lanka- Bangladesh Investment Forum

President Maithripala Sirisena was the Chief Guest at the Investment Forum held in Dhaka, on 15th July with the participation of Sri Lanka as well as Bangladesh investors and entrepreneurs. This Forum was organized to explore new investments and business opportunities in Sri Lanka.

The trade figure between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is USD 142 million per year and during this Forum the attention was drawn to make it a three-fold rise within the next years. It was also discussed regarding the agreements entered into by leaders of the both countries.

 

At present, Sri Lankan entrepreneurs have invested in Bangladesh in numerous sectors including gas, banking and apparel. During this meeting many unexplored opportunities available in those fields were revealed.  Bangladesh investors were invited to explore business opportunities in Sri Lanka as now there is an investment friendly business environment.

 

The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abdul Hassan Mahmood Ali also addressed the Forum.
