Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga has focused his attention on updating the training courses of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) to suit both present and future. Hence, measures will be taken to train the students enrolling to SLITHM on how to deal with the tourists while adhering to proper health guidelines as it is both timely and relevant within the current situation in the world. Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management is expected to enroll 5175 students for its courses by the year 2021 and it is a three-fold increase compared to last year. In 2020, a total of 1659 students had been enrolled in training courses at SLITHM. Established in 1964, the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management offers a wide range of Certificate and Diploma Courses in Professional Cuisine, Restaurant and Bar Service, Tourist Reception, tour guide, and Language Training.
