    Special Task Force established to ensure safety of military camps

    A special Presidential Task Force has been established to ensure the health safety within camps of the tri-forces headed by the Governor of the Western Province Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Gunatilake.

    President Gotabaya Rajapaksa held a discussion with retired Heads of Security and Specialist doctors at the Presidential Secretariat yeatarday  morning (27) to identify measures needed to safeguard health at military camps.

    Accordingly, the Task Force will undertake to formulate a plan to ensure complete health security within camps and implementing and monitoring the said plan.

    The President said that safeguarding tri-forces personnel is equally important as protecting the citizens from the virus.

    Further, the specialist team was also instructed to produce a report by observing camps of the tri-forces.

    Under the directives of the Defence Secretary and the Tri Forces Commanders a streamlined programme would be established at the military camps to ensure the safety of the military personnel under the supervision of the Special Task Force.

    “It is equally important to ensure the safety of the public and the tri forces. There should be special focus on the teams working closely with those infected with the virus. Those infected should be directed to hospital and those who associated them should be directed for quarantine,”President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa noted.

     

    The President also directed the Special Task Force to expeditiously formulate a report by inspecting all military camps. He said priority should be given to the safety of the military personnel engaged in the quarantine centres. He also advised that specialised medical teams could be called for assistance to ensure safety measures at camps.

     

    President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had also instructed the authorities to identify any shortcomings in measures taken to control the spread of the Coronavirus so far and take steps to rectify these shortcomings.

Jayasundara, Advisor Lalith Weeratunga, former Air Force Commander, former Western Province Governor Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Gunagtillake, former Navy Commander Admiral (Rtd) Jayantha Perera, Director General of the CSD Rear Admiral (Rtd) Ananda Peiris, Maj. Gen. Sumedha Perera, Consultant Dr. Bandula Wijesiriwardena and Consultant Dr. Vajira Senaratne also participated.
