March 16, 2017

The Australian Border Force has provided a replacement engine for Sri Lanka Navy's 'SLNS Rathnadeepa' ship.

According to the Navy media sources the replacement engine worth USD 40,000 was presented to the Navy upon a request by the Navy Commander.

High Commissioner of Australia to Sri Lanka Bryce Hutchesson handed over the engine to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at a ceremony held on Wednesday (15th March) at SLNS Rangala in Colombo.

The Naval ship 'SLNS Rathnadeepa', a Bay Class Patrol Vessel got damaged on its Port Main Engine in October last year and the damage was found to be beyond economical repairs. Responding to Commander of the Navy's request the Australian Border Force had provided the engine at zero cost to the Sri Lanka Navy.
