    Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament Rt. Hon. Gerry Brownlee M. P. called on Prime Minister Hon Dinesh Gunawardena at the Temple Trees yesterday(July 10).

    Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the final decision regarding the lifting of the ban imposed on the import of vehicles will be taken by mid August.

    The Cabinet Spokesman, Minister, Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said that the salary of a Grade One category teacher who did not engage in the recent strike action has increased by 1,630 rupees and salary of a Grade 2 (Class 1) teacher by 1,335 rupees and the salary of a Grade 111 teacher by 525 rupees due to the salary increase given by the government yesterday.

    Hon. Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation - Nimal Siripala de Silva  says  that JICA has agreed to re-grant the concessional loan scheme to resume the construction of the second terminal at Katunayake International Airport. This project had been halted due to the recent ec onomic recession. The Minister shared this information during a special discussion with JICA representatives yesterday (10).
