UN agencies, INGOs and NGOs pledge to provide more support for flood relief assistance
June 06, 2024State Minister of Defence Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon chaired a meeting with representatives of UN agencies, INGOs and NGOS to educate them on the ongoing rescue and relief operations to assist bad weather affected communities, at his office in Colombo, yesterday(Jun 05).

President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that Sri Lanka is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040 while pursuing its economic goals. He noted that Sri Lanka is the first country in Asia to incorporate the global objective of zero carbon emissions into its national policy.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe received the credentials of five newly appointed High Commissioners and nine Ambassadors to Sri Lanka at the Colombo Fort President’s House this morning (05).
