    To help in meeting the needs of people affected and displaced by floods and landslides caused by the incessant rains in Sri Lanka, the High Commission of India handed over relief goods on Thursday (Jan.01) as humanitarian assistance to the National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC) of the Ministry of Disaster Management of Sri Lanka. 

    The Staff of the Department of Government Information commenced work for the New Year on the morning of Thursday (Jan.01)  with a customary ceremony presided by the Director General of Government Information Prof.Ariyarathna Athugala.
    With the dawn of the New Year, the President visited the historic Kataragama Sacred City on Thursday night (Dec.31) to secure blessings for the New Year.

    During the month of December 2014, further progress was made by banks, and finance and leasing companies on the financial sector consolidation process.
