On the orders of the DIG Galle, s special police team headed by an ASP have commenced investigations  on a vessel anchored at the Galle Harbour which is said to contain a large stock of weapons.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris celebrated the Hindu Thai Pongal festival on 15^th January 2015, a thanksgiving ceremony to the Sun God for bringing a plentiful harvest and prosperity in agriculture and also to the farm animals for their assistance in producing a successful crop. The event highlighted the significance of the occasion to all Sri Lankans as this Hindu cultural event is engulfed with hopes and aspirations, and encourages social cohesiveness, harmony and unity among the community.  Predominantly, as a country with a sizeable population of Hindu farming community, the meaning of Thai Pongal holds great importance for Sri Lanka in expressing concern for all living beings and promoting harmonious co-existence.
