UN chief Ban urges Israel to spare civilians in Gaza
July 18, 2014UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged Israel to "do far more" to spare Palestinian civilians after it launched a ground offensive in Gaza on Thursday, said a report published by AFP.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in an Iftar ceremony at Temple Trees on Thursday (17).
The fruit promotion week is being held at the Fruit Crop Research and Development Centre premises in Kananwila Horana since 14th July and will end on 21st July. Considering the recommended daily intake of fruits is at 200 grams, but an average Sri Lankan consumes a very low quantity of fruits per day, the Agriculture Ministry with the aim of bringing awareness among people of the importance of consuming fruits has organized this fruit promotional week as 200 Grams.
As a part of his official tour of China, the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, visited Shanghai as Special Envoy of President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Trade and Commerce from 3rd to 6th July 2014. This visit also coincided with the “Sri Lanka Shines in Shanghai” promotional event, co-ordinated by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Development.
