It says that fairly strong gusty winds (up to 50kmph) can be expected over the island today (18th Dec.) and mainly fair weather will prevail over the island.
However, light showers may occur in the Eastern and Uva provinces.
North-east monsoon conditions are expected to establish gradually over the country during the next few days, Met. Department said.
