Port of Colombo to become a Green Port by 2025
July 04, 2024With major ports worldwide becoming green ports, the government has decided to expedite the transformation of the Port of Colombo into a green port. Accordingly, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation has planned to take all necessary measures to achieve this objective by 2025.
The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian fishing boats poaching in Sri Lankan waters in the wee hours of 01st July 2024. The operation led to the seizure of 04 Indian dhows and apprehension of 25 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off the Delft Island, Jaffna.
