Presidential Director General (Community Affairs) Mr. Rajith Keerthi Thennakoon said that nearly Rs. 200 billion has been paid in 2023 alone to provide relief to the people affected by the economic crisis.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that a new committee would be established to coordinate arrangements for the last rites of individuals in accordance with their religious customs or the final wishes, including those within the Muslim community.

The President’s Fund is in the final stages of providing scholarships to 6,000 economically disadvantaged students who passed the GCE Ordinary Level Examination in 2022/2023. Payments for outstanding instalments from March and April 2024 will be paid together with the May payment.
