The University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga issuing a statement said that the UGC has postponed the deadline for university registration for the academic year 2020 two weeks.

The building of a former Voice of America relay station in Iranawila, Chilaw will be converted into a COVID-19 hospital to treat Coronavirus infected patients and Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi engaged in an inspection tour of the facility yesterday (26).

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the Sri Lanka Ports Authority to provide necessary facilities to vessels that enter Sri Lankan ports during the island wide Police curfew currently in effect due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

The public has been warned to follow the currently enforced curfew orders to the letter.
