    President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the crucial role of the Sri Lankan tea industry in transitioning the country towards an export economy. He underscored the need for a comprehensive promotion strategy, developed in collaboration with both public and private sectors. The President noted that “Ceylon Tea” is a world-renowned brand and should be further promoted through a new strategic program.

    The report from the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed to investigate and recommend effective utilization of the Revenue Administration Management Information System (RAMIS) was recently presented to President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the President’s Office.

    It is scheduled to shift the Regional Office of the Department of Immigration and Emigration situated at No. JC 23, Outer Circle Road, Vavuniya to the building at the location in front of Gamini Vidyalaya, Mannar Road, Vavuniya with effect from Friday, the 16th of August 2024.

    Showery condition is expected to enhance to some extent in the south-western part of the Island from tomorrow(26th) in the next few days.

    Several spells of showers will occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. A few showers may occur in North-western province.

    Strong winds of about 50 kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the central hills and in Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee, Monaragala and Hambantota districts. Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times elsewhere of the island.
