The final day of the “Ehi Passiko” International Peace Walk falls today (28).
Venerable Pannakara Thero and a group of monks arrived at Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara yesterday (27) evening. Today (28), a lecture program is scheduled to be held from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for students of the University of Kelaniya and Kelaniya Dharma Vidyalaya.
Afterwards, at 12:00 noon, the peace walk will commence from Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara and proceed towards Independence Square.
At 4:00 p.m. today, a special state ceremony is scheduled to be held at Independence Square under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. During the event, a sapling of the Sri Maha Bodhi will be officially handed over to Venerable Pannakara Thero and the delegation.
Following this, the walk will resume at 5:30 p.m. and conclude upon reaching Gangaramaya Temple.
This international peace walk, which carries a message of peace to the world, commenced on the 22nd from Dambulla and yesterday covered the route from Yakkala to Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara.
