The Police Media Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne issued a notice stating that it is compulsory for anyone stepping out onto main roads or by roads to wear a mask.
Defence Secretary Maj.Gen.(Retd) Kamal Gunaratne said considering the present situation related to COVID-19 in the country, the government had not taken a decision to announce a complete lockdown during the next week.

It was decided at the ministerial meeting headed by the President and Prime Minister to declare the operations of all rice mills in the country as essential services until further notice, in view of the quarantine programme implemented to control the spread of COVID-19.
