    Secretary to Ministry of Defence, Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne, together with Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Commanders of the Navy, Commander of the Air Force and several senior Tri service Officers last day (27) had a close inspection on the renovation and re-construction site of the new National Defence College (NDC), the first of its kind in Sri Lanka at Kompannaveediya, Colombo 2.

    The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters at Kosgama which boasts a landmark history of over 139 years and has hitherto gifted the Nation with a galaxy of professionals and patriotic War Heroes is fast opening up to a superb panorama of face-lift, coupled with multiple development projects, now in full swing under the able guidance of Major General Jagath Gunawardene, Commandant, SLAVF and Colonel Commandant, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers with full blessings of Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.

    Foreign Relations, Skills Development, Employment and Labour Relations Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has reassured that the repatriation of migrant workers from the Middle East as well as other regions will continue, in a manner sensitive to the vulnerability of these communities, particularly those who have lost legal status and/or employment in their host countries.

    The attention of the Ministry is drawn to news reports appearing in some newspapers and websites with allegations against the present High Commissioner in the UK, regarding her medical treatment.
