    The Foreign Ministry has dispatched 10,000 kg (2000 packs) of essential items including dry rations, to be distributed through the Sri Lanka High Commission in the Maldives, amongst the Sri Lankan community members in Male and outer Male.

    Sri Lanka’s Acting Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Dayani Mendis, in a letter addressed to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, has raised concerns regarding the allegations made in a press release issued by the High Commissioner on 03 June 2020 regarding “clampdown” of freedom of expression during COVID-19, in which a reference had been made to Sri Lanka.

    U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives Alaina B. Teplitz handed over a donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other sanitization materials to Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe (retd), Director General of the Disaster Management Centre, to contribute to Sri Lanka’s battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation is part of the “All of America” approach to combating COVID-19 and will help strengthen Sri Lanka's readiness to respond to public health emergencies.
