On the directive of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Army  Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has been appointed as the Head of the National Operation Center for the Prevention of COVID- 19.

Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Cultural and Religious Affairs Secretary M. K. Bandula Harischandra issued a statement notifying the public that all historical sites would be closed during the holiday period imposed by the government due to the Coronavirus epidemic.

The Government is currently not prepared to implement a complete lockdown at this point due to several practical issues, said Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

The Immigration and Emigration Controller General has taken a decision to extend the validity period of all types of visas of foreigners who are currently in Sri Lanka taking into consideration the spread of the Coronavirus in the country.The media release issued by the Immigration and Emigration Controller General is as follows.
